CFA action

As a professional association, the CFA takes action both in relation to its members and to public authorities or aerosol users.

Members

Four major areas

Regulations - Technology - Safety – Environmental Protection

The CFA informs its members about these different fields using a variety of specialized tools :

  • a customized information service,
  • information circulars on topical issues,
  • technical documents namely those issued by the European Aerosol Federation (FEA),
  • the CFA’s quarterly newsletter,
  • the Website,
  • various guides (transport, industrial safety, product withdrawals or recalls, aerosol labelling).

Code of Practice

The CFA has drawn up a Code of Best Industrial and Commercial Practices that each member company undertakes to apply.

Training by aerosol industry professionals

The CFA organises training courses for its members on all aerosol-related topics:

  • The manufacture of packaging, valves, gas propellants, etc.
  • the packaging of aerosol dispensers and related controls, applicable regulations,
  • transport, handling and storage,
  • environmental safety, packaging recycling,
  • the French, European and global aerosol markets.

These courses are all run by experienced professionals from the aerosol industry.

CFA involvement in changes to aerosol-related regulations

  • Proposals/discussions on regulatory changes with the relevant public authorities, administrative bodies and organisations at national and European level.
  • Participation in work done by the FEA on changes to aerosol regulations (labelling, transport, etc.) and technical developments, as well as on environmental issues (recycling, emission of volatile organic compounds, reduction of greenhouse gas emissions).
  • Participation in research, namely on the safety of aerosols

Users

The Comité Français des Aérosols pursues a policy to inform and educate users.

Safety, appropriate use and the environment

Information concerns three main themes: safety, appropriate use of aerosols and protecting the environment. These themes are developed in different tools made available to the public.

Concrete measures

This approach is completed by communication action :

  • Distribution through schools of the booklet “Il était une fois les aerosols” (The story of aerosols) for children aged between 8 and 13
  • CFA participation in the Sécurité Enfance Web site www.securite-enfance.org
  • Distribution of the leaflet “Mieux connaître les aerosols” (All you need to know about aerosols) via medical networks, consumer associations and risk prevention organisations.
  • Programme of information to the press about the aerosol system
