In 2003, 11 billion aerosols were produced worldwide :

• Europe 4,8 billion
• USA 3,6 billion
• Japan 0,6 billion
• China 0,7 billion
• Argentina 0,4 billion
• Australia 0,2 billion
• Brazil 0,2 billion
• South Africa 0,2 billion

In Europe, the market grew by approximately 2% over the year; in China, it literally boomed (+14%).

In Europe, the 4.8 billion aerosols produced break down as follows :

• Cosmetic products 55 %
• Cleaning products 21 %
• Automotive and industrial products 7 %
• Pharmaceutical and veterinary products 6 %
• Food products 8 %
• Paints and varnishes 3 %

With 551 million units produced, France accounts for 11.5% of European production.

Consumption accounts for 11.3% of total consumption in Europe, i.e. 10 aerosols per person per year.

Change in production

The production of aerosols has remained relatively stable in France in recent years with just over 540 million units produced each year. This is also true for Europe where production varied between 4.2 and 4.8 billion units over the same period.
